Unlike women, when it comes to shopping men shop out of necessity. Men, just don't have it in their DNA to shop until they drop. Women, if you were to even attempt to bring them with you while shopping, they just may, well..drop, right there in the mall! Regardless, men have to look good. After all, let's face it, women love when a man looks good and men actually do like to look good themselves, as well.
Here is a breakdown of the trends for the Summer season, think of it as a shopping list to help him upgrading his wardrobe this season.
Key Looks for Summer 2010:
* Suits - Double-breasted defines modern elegance * Shirts - Slim gingham button-downs, plaid-on-plaid, denim, scoop-neck Tees, tank tops and horizontal-striped polo shirts * Pants - straight cut pants, cuffed trousers, rolled-up jeans and white denim * Vests, blazers * Shorts * Footwear - Boat Shoes, retro Sneakers, high-tops, loafers * Accessories - aviator sunglasses and vintage leather book bags. * Fabrics: Sportswear designers continue to blur the lines between athletic apparel and street wear, fusing modern technological advancements in performance fabrics with designs.
Now that you know the trends, here are a few pointers to keep in mind while making the best clothing selections that will work for you:
Short (oops, Vertically challenged) Men
Avoid double-breasted suit styles, instead look for suits that have pin stripes.
When buying ties this season, avoid thick ties and large prints, instead go with a smaller knot and print.
Overall, when coordinating your look this Summer, keep your pants and shoes the same color, as it creates an unboken line to your height.
Tall Towering Men
Wear suits that are slightly fitted, anything too baggy will make you look thinner.
Suits with three buttons tend to lengthen the body, so stick with one and two buttons.
Tousers that fit straight in the leg work best on your height..
Men with "love to handle" around the waist
Try shrinking your stomach with a dark hue shirt and avoid any type of print in the mid section - instead draw the eye up with stripes in the chest area.
Cargo pockets also keep eyes off the tummy.
Try rugby's (Polo's) with vertical stripes as supposed to horizontal for a belly.
