Written by Tania Braukamper
Last month we introduced you to a feature whereby magazine metropolis mag nation give us their recommendation for the coolest, must-have mags of the month. For July 2009 they uncover some hidden gems of the magazine world - read on to find out what you should be getting your hands on and why.

i-D - The F.U.N Issue

Whilst The F.U.N issue of i-D features oodles of the goodstuff - a photoshoot of Lily Allen, styled by Kate Moss, an exclusive interview with... Spongebob Square Pants (really), Star Trek , the highlight of this issue is probably the kooky photo shoot (shot by Juergen Teller) and in depth interview with Andreas Kronthaler (husband of Vivienne Westwood). The article covers his first contact with the fashion doyenne through to how he married her and finally how he came to run the MAN arm of Westwood's empire. This is the first issue of the magazine since it announced its new 6 issues a year schedule.

A Magazine Curated By #9

The latest issue of A Magazine Curated By features designers Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez of NYC at the helm, or as they are collectively known to the rest of the world, Prenza Schouler. Their influence on this notably American focused issue is evident. A gorgeous picture of their muse-in-chief, Chloe Sevigny graces the front cover, and sets the tone for the rest of the magazine. The photoshoots and images through the issue are simply exquisite. Fashion contributors include Mikolai Berg, Simon Critchley and Camille Vivier.

WAD Magazine - 10 to 10 issue

Once again, WAD (We 'Ar Different) delivers well beyond expectations in this, its 10th year of publication. It began the year with a 10th Anniversary issue, and has continued with the theme in its '10 to 10' issue - as in 10AM to 10PM. Highlights include a fashion shoot that lasted from 10AM to 10PM, a tour of 15 of the coolest cities in the world to check out what happens in each of them at precisely... You guessed it - 10PM. Also includes the latest and greatest in world of urban fashion. As always with WAD, if for no other reason, and there are plenty, it is worth getting simply for the front cover.

FALLEN issue #2

Following up the acclaimed inaugural issue of FALLEN was always going to be a tough job, but editors in chief Kara Allen and Lauren Whiffen have managed to pull it off with ease. The second issue of this gorgeous Made in Melbourne title that focuses on Australian Creativity and Creatives has managed to strike that rare balance between inspirational art direction, and absorbing, need-to-keep-reading editorial. This issue features the Fashion Designs of Carly/Hunter, the Crafts of Dinosaur Designs, the Jewellery of Elke Kramer and much much more. Tania Braukamper
