Alice Temperley selects the best dressed on Ladies’ Day. A teenager wearing her grandmother’s dress triumphed in the Best Dressed Stakes at the Royal Bath & West Show’s first-ever ‘Ladies’ Day’ today (June 3rd).
17-year-old Emily Mangles, from Crewkerne, Somerset, was chosen from a short list of twenty by judge, Alice Temperley, the renowned British designer. Temperley made her choice based on each contender’s originality and style.
Emily was wearing a1950’s polka-dot dress, which once belonged to her grandmother, and a vintage hat. She is inspired by retro fashion and recently made a 1950’s look dress as part of her A-level art studies.
Alice Temperley, whose business is based in London, has strong roots in the West Country, having grown up on her parents’ cider farm in Somerset before launching her own label. She is known for her focus on beautiful fabrics and hand-finishes and counts Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson among her clients.
